    Some people just don't listen

I sold my 604-8G's and the buyer had a packing company pick them up. I spoke with the packers on the phone and told them how big the cabinets are and how much they weigh (620 cabinets).
They said no problem and sent one guy. He looked at them and got his asthma inhaler out of the truck cab, seriously. I helped him load them into the truck because he couldn't pick up the cabinets even without the drivers in them and he struggled with just the boxed 604s. They gave him a roll of 1/8" foam to wrap them in and and some straps to tie them to the wall of the van.
He said he was going to give the dispatcher sh*t when he got back to the office. They told him it was just a pair of speakers and he could manage by himself. One guy, two 140Lb speakers, should be OK, right? Duh.

I had told the buyer that I did not want to ship the cabinets and couldn't take responsibility for them but he insisted that this company could do the job. My ad said that the drivers could be shipped but not the cabs. I even told him that he could have a pair or new cabinets made locally for the cost shipping but no, that's not the answer.
We'll see how they look when they arrive - in Italy. He may be getting a set of cabinets made locally after all.

    I feel your pain.

I decided to cut my losses and sell locally.

I was fortunate to get a fast buyer from this board for the cabinets.

I'm still stuck with my last pair of 8G's, with new phragms and GPA cones, i'm unable to give them away at 875 locally. Coming to fleece-bay soon.

I've been using Canuck Audio Mart to reduce the overflow of equipment here. They have an American version as well. I like that most of the buyers are local and they can see/hear the piece and pay cash with no issues or packaging problems.
If I wasn't reducing my pile of Altec parts, I'd buy your 604's in a flash for $875.

I've heard a lot of horror stories about shipping to Italy and it's one place i will not ship to..Packages have a habit of getting lost with no one knowing what happened if you catch my drift. The postal service there is very corrupt.I was in a similar situation.I sold my 604-8G's to a guy in Oklahoma and they were in 612 cabs.. I couldn't ship the cabs and packed the drivers and shipped them out packed very well..they arrived in perfect condition.I mounted them to a piece of Baltic birch ply and then many layers of polystyrene.. I still have the cabs however.

I hear you. I wouldn't have shipped to Italy myself but the buyer arranged everything from his end. My responsibility stopped at my front door.
By the way, I ship my drivers the same way. Bolted to a piece of plywood, wrapped in plastic and wedged with styro around the outside and multi-layer styro sheets with cutouts for the magnet to keep it stable in shipping. A CD is about the right size for the 8G magnet as a cutting template. It works quite well.

If he paid by PayPal, that might not be true.

I wouldn't do paypal out of the country, it's too easy to get scammed.
